The semester is over, grades are turned in, and it’s time for STEM faculty to enjoy a well-deserved break!
All of us associated with ENGAGEEngineering.org wish you a productive and enjoyable summer. We also want to thank you for taking advantage of our online resources this past year as part of your student engagement and retention efforts.
We’re going to stay in touch with you over the next few months. Summer is the best time to begin incorporating our resources into your course planning for fall, and we’ll make it easy for you!
You’ve got the time now, so take a look at the ENGAGE website. You’ll find easy to implement strategies and lesson plans for retaining undergraduate students, especially women and other underrepresented groups.
Give some thought to the following:
- How might you drop some Everyday Examples in Engineering into your course syllabus that make technical concepts you are teaching easier for students to grasp?
- What Faculty-Student Interactions might you structure that will put students at ease and increase their engagement and persistence?
- What would it take to convince your department, school, or college to offer Spatial Visualization Skills training for students who could benefit from it?
There are many ways to take advantage of these research-based strategies starting next semester. Stay tuned this summer and we’ll show you some possibilities!
